Former President Donald Trump is coming to Charlotte today to speak at the Fraternal Order of Police’s National Board of Trustees meeting in the North East side of town. Trump will use the visit to position himself as tougher on crime than Democratic opponent Kamala Harris in the campaign’s final months. 4 years ago, the FOP endorsed Trump’s 2020 reelection bid.
I-85 will experience intermittent closures between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to accommodate Trump’s motorcade from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Drivers are encouraged to use I-485, US 74, or US 29 to avoid delays.
