Tonight offers a rare chance to witness two meteor showers peaking simultaneously.
The Delta Aquariids, known for their bright and fast meteors, will reach their zenith alongside the Alpha Capricornids, which are noted for their slower, colorful shooting stars. This celestial event promises a breathtaking spectacle for stargazers.
According to EarthSky, the Delta Aquariids’ radiant point is near the star Skat, originating from comet 96P/Macholz Complex, producing 15 to 20 meteors per hour at its peak.
The second meteor shower, coming from the Alpha Capricornids, typically a minor meteor source, are best known for their bright fireballs. Recently, meteor cameras worldwide have recorded an unusual number of these fireballs.
To maximize your meteor viewing experience tonight, find a dark, unobstructed location away from city lights. Allow your eyes 20 to 30 minutes to adjust to the darkness for optimal meteor spotting.
