Two separate and unrelated shootings in Gastonia on Saturday afternoon left one woman dead, one police officer in the hospital with a gunshot wound, and at least one other individual injured.
Gastonia Police reported that two officers responded to a “violent domestic situation” on South King Street at around 1:20 p.m. They encountered a woman armed with multiple guns and attempted to get her to disarm. The woman fired at the officers, hitting one of them. In the exchange, she was also shot and died at the scene. The injured officer was taken to CaroMont Regional Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.

Less than an hour later, another unrelated shooting took place on Dix Street in Gastonia:
Officers said a man was shot in the face and is being treated at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
