Vice President Kamala Harris is coming to Charlotte today to unveil a massive new investment of $20 billion in climate and clean energy projects. The funding release is part of the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a $27 billion initiative established under President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
Harris will give the speech at the Naomi Drenan Center in Cotswold, where she will be joined by EPA Administrator Michael Regan, Governor Cooper, and Mayor Vi Lyles:
Following her speech, she will proceed to Uptown to cut the ribbon on a new Biden campaign field office (one of 10 such offices the Biden campaign will be opening across North Carolina). Charlotte residents should prepare for heavy traffic delays throughout the day between Cotswold and Uptown Charlotte.
The Biden campaign has already directed $30 million towards advertising efforts in the Tar Heel state, with expectations of significantly more funding throughout our state as the election approaches.
Political analysts highlight North Carolina’s critical role as a battleground state in the upcoming general election, the first such presidential election rematch since the 1950s.
