Charlotte Native Byron Wins First Daytona 500 Win Amidst Multi-Car Crash

Charlotte’s own William Byron clinched his first Daytona 500 victory on Monday night, navigating through a significant crash with eight laps remaining and another as the race neared its final lap.

Driving the #24 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Byron emerged victorious in the 66th Daytona 500, a race that concluded dramatically with a wreck immediately after Byron had taken the white flag, signaling the last lap.

This triumph marks the first Daytona 500 win for the Charlotte, North Carolina, native and a milestone victory for Hendrick Motorsports, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
