Charlotte Now Ranked As The 3rd Most Desirable and 3rd Most Underrated City in America





According to a new report from HomeBay, Charlotte now ranks as the 3rd most desirable and 3rd most underrated city in America.

The report was compiled with data from user survey feedback, U.S. Census on net migration rates, local unemployment rates, regional price parities, average home values, and violent crime rates per 1,000 residents.

Overall, the report found that Americans are mixed on their opinions about cities across the U.S. Many of the cities on our most desirable list also made the least desirable list.

Charlotte ranks as follows:

  • 3rd-most desirable city

  • 18th-least desirable city

  • 3rd-most underrated city

  • 24th-most overrated city

Americans say Seattle is both the most desirable city in the U.S. and the most underrated — overtaking last year’s surprising No. 1 city, Virginia Beach.

Although 63% of Americans like where they live, more than 2 in 3 (67%) say they could be convinced to move to another city or state if they were paid to.

Americans would also consider moving for a lower cost of living (46%), better quality of life (44%), or job opportunity (38%).

Of those who aren’t happy where they live, 42% say they can’t afford to move.
