A 2-year-old child was shot in the head at River Valley Baptist Church in Burke County this week.
According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a call at the church around 8pm on October 15th. Upon arrival, they discovered the toddler with a gunshot wound to the head. They immediately called for a medical helicopter and the child was transported to Charlotte’s Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for emergency surgery.
The child, who is the son of Pastor Adam Vines, was accidentally shot after his 3-year-old sibling found the pastor’s gun and discharged it.
The child’s condition was listed as critical post-surgery.
